About the Author

Zena started a family at age twenty-two. She had started university but then put it aside and stayed home to raise her daughters. She was broke but in love. Fast forward eight years—she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown wondering how she was going to support her two young daughters after a marriage breakdown. She chose to take the responsibility of her family’s money and take control of her own destiny. At the time it felt as though her world was collapsing, but in hindsight it was just the beginning of an awareness of her personal power. She went back to university, created a career, and found a passion to help other women who find themselves wanting and needing to take control on the path to financial independence.

In 2008, she graduated from university and shortly after earned her Financial Planning designations. She has worked in financial planning since then as a Certified Financial Planner, a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and a Certified Cash Flow Specialist. She is the founder of Women Wine & Wealth, Regina, and of the financial planning firm, Astra Financial Services located in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Understanding family money values has been a part of her own journey to financial freedom—the freedom to stand on her own two feet again. Zena’s experiences and teachings have helped to save her marriage and inspired her teenage daughters to look at money with empowerment and independence. She now inspires women to take control of their family’s finances and live by the principles she teaches in this book.
