Writing The Book Was A Slow and Steady Process – Interview With Author Serena Wadhwa

Please share a bit about your journey to become a published author?

My journey  to becoming a published author really began about 20 years ago. I had this idea for a book, which came together as a result of some stuff that was happening in my life. Well, life happened and writing the book was a slow and steady process. Finally, I finished the first draft and found myself talking with Julie. The next thing you know, boom! There it is. Online and available. Julie and I worked after the book was in the final draft through online sessions.

How does the writing process work for you? Do you schedule a time every day, work madly when inspiration hits or ?

I work when inspiration hits mostly, although I try to write once a week at the very least. When there is a certain writing piece I want to have done, I find myself devoting more time to do it.

What did you find most difficult about the writing and publishing process? What was the easiest?

The easiest is the creation. I have many book ideas in me, so starting is the easiest step. The most difficult is the writing and editing. Editing is not my favorite, although it’s an important step.

What title (or titles) have you released? Please include a short synopsis of what your book is (or books are) about.

Stress Intelligence: 365+ Ways to Smooth the Stress Flow. This book explores over 365 tools to prevent, manage, reduce and be present with your stress experience. Each day brings a different tool for the reader to explore.

Stress in the Modern World: Understanding Science and Society. This is an academic book on stress exploring theories, stressors, and coping mechanisms. It’s unique feature is 20 personal accounts about how others prevent, manage, or reduce stress.

Substance Use: Problem or Not? is for managers and supervisors who may have employees struggling with substance use. This book explores some information about substance use and substance use disorders and provides some suggestions.

Grief and Loss in the Workplace. This explores the process of grief when loss occurs and how managers and supervisors can help their employee and/ or team with this.

Do you have any new books in the planning or writing stage?

Oh yes. I have one on change and one on healthy living that I am creating the outlines for now. I have a trilogy fiction book to complete and about two or three other book topics in the creation stage.

What would you like readers to know about you?

I work as a stress coach as well as other roles, so I can help readers implement the tools in this book and recognize how they can approach their stress more effectively. I also have a blog on stress, a Facebook page and provide other services as well, like yoga, and therapy. I think it’s important to recognize that coaching and therapy are different concepts.
